Here's the Hanalei surfboard swap today- taken from my cell phone camera. A ton of boards! I sold two out of the four I had to sell. The surf is flat here on the north shore so I think there were a few extra bored surfers around! This was a moment of sun between tropical downpours, hard enough to make a splash in my coffee!!!

Here are some pics I took on a surf trip to New Zealand in May. The photos were taken of Manu Bay (Raglan) and Gisborne, both on the north island. I'm from Victoria, but living in Mooloolaba, Australia now.

My name is Rich Davis. I'm originally from Calgary but have been living here in Costa Rica for a few years. I have a house just near a sick wave that will remain nameless as we are quickly losing the battle to keep it a secret.
I surf waves from South of Samara all the way south to the Rio Bongo, which is the set of big rivers that prevents traffic from coming up from Mal Pais. Today I surfed Playa Coyote with 10 foot faces. Playa Coyote is a finicky waves but has some real power and can spit out some nasty barrells.

Was great to get back in the water after a couple years - i've been living locked up in Alberta with my home town being Cape Town where i grew up surfing.
Here are some pics of my recent surf trip to a few islands in Indo. The water sequence shots aren't great quality as they are taken off video by a Canuk called 'Dayten' living off the Japanese tourists and filming there.

These pictures were taken in South Africa January 2007.
The first picture was taken quite far back - but the waves were very clean and powerful, ranging from 5 - 8 feet, and this particular day had black flags up for major shark warnings, since two were spotted just on the nextdoor beaches.
Way out the back there were people towing into some 15 footers at least, it was a powerful day of surf and weather, but with clean waves.
Second photo is taken after travelling farther north (this elephant just popped out of nowhere, with a baby just behind - amazing).

he was late for his heat, took his clothes off in the judging area/ parking lot and ran into the water in just his underwear. That water was FREEZING cold, but he made it the whole heat long. Props to the BC boys!
