May/07/2007 World Junior Games, Portugal

after 2 day of surfing the boys have been reduced to the repechage heats. Looking at the layout of the heats, we have a good chance of advanceing past the first round of repechage . Logan surfs at 8:00 am and Ben surfs at 8:30. then at 11:00 am Keegan, and Taylor will surf at 11:20 in the boys under 18 group.

At 3:00 pm Connor will surf in a group of 3 surfers out of which the 2 best surfers advance. Isaac will surf at 3:40. Irish Eyes where smiling down on him as well as he also has a heat with only 3 surfers.

The waves are nothing to write home about....beach break and very soft...a fish would be the great board here...but you do not see very many of them in this contest

signing out from Portugal until too more....lets hope the boy will move on

May/06/2007 first reportSo far 2 of the boys have surfed in the the U 18. The waves where nothing to write home about.. The waves where knee to waist high ..but short in lengths. Logan had a good heat until he was called for interfrence (sp). He was sitting .5 behind the 2nd place guy...but with the call this caused Logan to drop to 4th place. This had an effect on his surfing from that point. Ben was trying to find the wave that would give him some points...but the wave never came. The other boys will be surfing this afternoon.

May/04/2007 Friday Day 2: World Junior Games, Portugal

The guys had a good sleep last night and you could see it in the way they were surfing today. The swell size is dropping but hasn’t shaped up and is still a bit shifty. Our Canadian Team is really starting to gel and look like a cohesive team.

The water temps here are in the mid-teens and the guys are enjoying wearing 4/3s. It sure beats surfing in a straightjacket hooded wetsuit.

The hotel is quite packed up with competitors now; every country is in and are preparing for the big event. The talent level is exceptionally high.
opening ceremonies 3am pacific time - live webcast I will send an update later today when our boys begin to compete.

May/03/2007 up date from Portugal

Its 8:45 pm on May 03...after a long day of flying the team have made it to Portugal... The boys where in to the hotel and back out with out the door closing on the room and they where on a made dash to the water....the waves where over head ...but all over the place....Their was some good jrs form the other country..staking out the picking order ..and keeping a close eye on the new kids on the block.
