The first annual Rip Curl Cup was held Sept. 4th in Nova Scotia went off with all the good ingredients!
Good surf. Good competition. Good energy.
The Saturday event held at Lawrencetown beach started with rainy onshore conditions that quickly turned around to offer quality right point break surf with offshore wind. The sun also came out later in the day to cap things off. Good Ingredients for the surfers and spectators (est. around 250) for sure.
Later Sat night the top competitors were awarded their booty (vacations, surfboards, wetsuits, watches, shades etc.), at the packed 'Marquis' nightclub afterparty.
First place (a trip to Costa Rica with G.A.P. travel) was won by local ripper Matt Healy.
This is the first of many Rip Curl Cups to come. Thanks to all the sponsors/organizers involved (Rip Curl, Spy, G.A.P.,Otherword Surfboards, Nokia, Kokanee).
