Tuff City Skate Jam 2005
The first annual TCSJ was held Saturday Sept. 3rd at the Tofino skatepark. It was scheduled to run the previous weekend but wet weather caused a postponement. There was some doubt whether it would go ahead on the 3rd but the day turned out to be close to perfect. Thirty eight skaters mostly from Vancouver Island as well as a few from south of the border skated the park in sunny conditions.
The event organizers, Jason Picton and Matt Petzold, are pretty pleased with how the first competition in the new park came together and are grateful to all of the sponsors, volunteers, the Tofino rec. department and skaters that made it happen. Jason said that now they have a solid foundation to build future competitions on and he's stoked by the great response to the park by skaters from near and far.
