The 2006 Kayak Surf Fest was held on Cox Bay in late September under blue skies. Surfers were stunned by the site of 80 to 100 kayakers and competitors that weekend. More serious surf boats and pros this year too.
A great feast, swag and party was hosted by the Vancouver Island WW Paddlers Society, at Surf Junction, Ucluelet, under a great new timber canopy.
These pictures were taken by Kurt Hemmington, an instructor with the Squamish Whitewater Paddlers, who swam out to get some of these shots. They are 1 1/2 to 2 meter swells from the Sunday after the competition.
