  Nanaimo TeenFest    Sept 13, 2014
Nanaimo TeenFest - Sept 13, 2014

We are proud to present TeenFest! The Nanaimo TeenFest will be taking place Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Maffeo Sutton Park, in Nanaimo. This fun filled FREE public event will engage, enlighten, entertain, and empower our youth of today. The event runs from 11:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

As parents of three children, we realized that it is sometimes hard for the youth to find the resources they need or to find businesses that support and cater to their particular needs. As well, we felt it was so important for the kids to interact with others and find activities, hobbies, or volunteer positions that can help them with their self-esteem, and keep them out of trouble, so we came up with TeenFest. The purpose behind this free community event will be to engage, enlighten, entertain, and empower our youth of today. TeenFest will give teens and their parents the opportunity to connect with each other, their peers and their community. The focus will be on creating opportunities for interaction, education, and enjoyment with exhibitors, activities, workshops, and performances for this age group. The venue will be divided into 4 primary areas: Health and Wellness, Fashion and Beauty, Life and Education, and Cool Stuff.

The goal is to educate the youth while they are having a great time.

Best Regards,
Wayne

Ash Grunwald Touring BC   July - Aug 2014

Ash Grunwald, loved for his crowd frenzied shows and blistering guitar playing, is reminiscent of the greats before him like Buddy Guy, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix and Steve Ray Vaughn. Vocally and lyrically, you can pick up pieces of Howlin’ Wolf, R.L. Burnside, Eddie James “Son” House and Tom Waits. Australia’s Triple J Magazine notes, “The fat, urgent rhythms drive Grunwald’s smoking, bluesy riffs like an unlicensed teenager in a stolen car.”

Fascinating Expedition & Adventure Talks    Rio Theatre in Van - March 7, 2014
Fascinating Expedition & Adventure Talks - Rio Theatre in Van - March 7, 2014

Fascinating Expedition & Adventure Talks (FEAT), Canada has invited nine local speakers from a range of adventure disciplines to talk on March 7, 2014 about their recent accomplishments and expeditions. FEAT employs a fast-paced, pecha kucha-style presentation format where each speaker has only seven minutes (no more, no less) to tell their story. Far removed from a formal speaking platform, FEAT is social and fun and the audience is encouraged to interact with speakers.

FEAT’s line-up of nine speakers includes Adam Campbell, Alicia Woodside, Debora De Napoli, Denis Barnett, Norm Hann, Ryan Robertson, Sarah Hart, Tiffany Melius and Tobin Seagel . They’ll speak of adventurers and expeditions in the disciplines of ultramarathoning, extreme backcountry skiing, stand up paddle boarding, cycling, mountain biking, sailing, and climbing. FEAT Canada will be MC’d by International Adventurer Kevin Vallely and will include a special FEAT demonstration only to be announced at the show.

“It’s fantastic to have so many great speakers from the lower mainland and Vancouver Island,” says Sean Verret, who is the producer and director of FEAT Canada. “We truly are lucky to put together a lineup rich in inspirational adventurers and motivators. The night, once again, will be magical and dynamic.”

International speaker and bestselling author Philip McKernan spoke at the inaugural FEAT Canada event, which was held in November last year. “I speak quite a lot and that event last night was top class. Genuinely hard to believe that this was its first year in Canada. Hats off to Sean Verret and his team for a really great job,” he said.

McKernan’s sentiments were echoed by the other speakers. Gary Robbins, West Coast Trail record holder commented: “The inaugural FEAT evening went off without a hitch and to an almost sold-out crowd. It was amazing to feel the energy of the speakers and audience".

Nicki Rehn, an endurance runner, felt this same energy too. "FEAT was as spirited and adrenalin-filled as the adventures themselves. A great night shared with great people, both on the stage and in the audience,” she said.

Paul Gleeson, a man who has rowed across the Atlantic spoke in the inaugural FEAT and recollected, “FEAT Canada was fantastically organized and the energy of the crowd was amazing. There was a great buzz in the theatre that night and the feedback was brilliant”. This FEAT Canada will be no less captivating.

FEAT Canada will be held on Friday March 7, 2014 at The Rio Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Tickets are $20 and they can be booked by contacting (866) 943-8849 or by visiting http://www.featcanada.ca/tickets/
